It’s quite tempting to speculate on the liberties taken with the biographical data given on a man whose diehard followers and stalwarts make up the only historical sources. When he died, he was little more than an agitator. His following grew only as his legend did. If only the Pharisees and the Romans had thought a little less about his effect on people, Jesus might have joined the ranks of history’s unknowns. I don’t claim to know the social norms of Aramaic speaking Galilean Jews under Roman occupation, but a man who lived with his parents until he was 30 and then suddenly had a revelation that he was God’s son sounds to me like a dreamer of the Joseph Smith quality.

To clarify:
I don't need to speak it in the local accent, but Brissbayne or Brizbunn does make a huge difference! I speak English with a British accent, so the local pronunciation wont be too much of a stretch for me as it might be otherwise for North Americans.

If you can Prince out in door-to-door, then it's not entirely implausible to find Tony Montana there one day too.

I could be wrong, but I think that was sarcasm directed toward the high level of Sparlock exposure on this forum.

Point taken, talesin. I've always felt that Québéc should either integrate themselves into Canada or get out altogether. If they are taking billions of Canadian dollars to preserve their society as you say they are, then they need to become multi-lingual and as accepting as the rest of the country is. Should independence be the goal, then don't take the money.

The best of luck to you! I've been to Montréal and Québéc , and they both were pleasant surprises on the drive out of Ontario. I read a book by a Québécois which had this line:
Canada is the greatest disappointment of all nations. In no other place on earth could you have the best of three worlds - British culture, French cuisine, and American technology. Instead we have British cuisine, French technology, and American culture.

Paradise earth doctrine - did it strike anyone else as a bit odd?
by sseveninches ini have neglected to read jwfacts.org since discovering jwn a few weeks ago (remnants of the "apostate" defenses in action), but recently i decided to dive head first into it, and it has been eye-opening.
of course, some of the information i already knew through reading jwn, but one of the pages that really got my attention was the paradise earth topic under "questionable doctrine".. paradise earth caught my eye because way before i started having doubts about jw doctrine, i have always been asking questions about the topic - not to raise doubts (since i didn't have any back then), but just for my personal understanding, and to see how plausible it could be.
in the past i have asked things like:.

I was always told that we'd have to learn Hebrew in the new order and speak it as a first language, since all non-Hebrew languages originated from the Tower of Babel, and thus, false religion. If only I could Hebraise the Malvinas into a Hebrew word and go over there, tear down the Union Jack and raise the royal standard of Jehovah!
¡ Las Malvinas son de Jehová!
Maybe Jehovah might want to keep the internet up since it would aid in our language courses.

I would have to speculate that since they sincerely believe they are on the way to heaven, they'd die a martyr's death and expect to be greeted by Jehovah in the cloudy expanse of the afterlife.
